LightSpace® 0612 Remote Digital Motion / Occupancy Sensor & IR Receiver - Weatherproof for ActiveLED® Lighting

  • LightSpace® Remote Digital Motion / Occupancy Sensor with IR Receiver - Weatherproof Sensor for ActiveLED® Lighting Systems

  • Controls one or many ActiveLED® lighting fixtures.

Satisfies the occupany zone requirements of 2006 IECC

  • Each interconnected ActiveLED fixture / power supply relays the sensor signal to the next fixture in the chain, so that the number of LED lights that can be controlled from one ActiveLED Motion / Occupancy IR Sensor is virtually limitless

  • Implement a manageable ActiveLED occupancy zone / lighting network when combined with the optional Hand-Held IR Programmer

    • Manage and Reprogram light fixtures, including maximum and minimum light levels and motion timing, saving even more energy

    EXAMPLE:
A 104 Watt ActiveLED fixture that is dimmed down to light level 40 when there is no motion sensed consumes just 9.36 Watt (9% of 104 Watt), saving 94.64 Watt, 91%

  • Each Motion / Occupancy IR Sensor is powered by the single ActiveLED lighting fixture to which it is directly connected

  • Connects to an ActiveLED power supply using standard 6-wire "flat ribbon" or UTP cable. RJ-12 male connectors

  • Interconnect ActiveLED lighting fixtures to provide a lighting network / occupancy zone of controllable lights using standard 4-wire "flat ribbon" or UTP cabling (RJ-11 / RJ-12 connectors)

  • Choice of two versions of the ActiveLED Weatherproof Motion / Occupancy Sensor:
    • Standard sensing cone that is 50° from the perpendicular (100° total cone)
    • Wide sensing cone that is 65+° from the perpendicular (135° total cone)

Mounts to a flat surface using two screws (screws not included).

LightSpace® Remote Digital Motion / Occupancy Sensor with IR Receiver - Weatherproof Sensor for ActiveLED® Lighting Systems

Uses Smart Technology to enable ActiveLED® Manageable Lighting equipment in a defined Occupancy Zone / Lighting Network to be turned on, off or dimmed based upon sensed motion or occupancy, saving energy and therefore cost - 35 feet effective range

ActiveLED® Lighting consumes at least 50-85 percent less energy than conventional lighting.
With its patented design and superior LED elements, ActiveLED Lighting is a reliable light source with a 90,000-hour lumen life, making it a maintenance-free solution for applications where changing bulbs and ballasts can be hazardous and expensive.

ActiveLED® Remote Motion / Occupancy IR Sensor Application

The Remote Digital Motion / Occupancy IR Sensor is designed to be connected to the communications port of an ActiveLED digitally manageable power supply / fixture. One Sensor can control one or many LED lighting fixtures that are interconnected to form an occupancy zone / lighting network, providing the ability to adjust light levels to suit occupancy needs while saving even more energy.

The Remote Motion Sensor includes an on-board IR Receiver (Passive Infra-Red) which allows the Sensor (and therefore the attached ActiveLED fixtures) to be remotely managed and reprogrammed using the optional ActiveLED Remote Hand-held IR Programmer. For example, if the use of a defined lighting zone needs to be redefined, the maximum and minimum light levels and dimming parameters of the ActiveLED fixtures can all be reprogrammed using the optional Remote Hand-Held IR Programmer from a distance of up to 50 feet.

ActiveLED® Occupancy Zone / Lighting "Network"

A group of controlled ActiveLED light fixtures (C-Series power supplies) can be interconnected to form an environmentally safe occupancy zone / lighting network.

The number of ActiveLED lighting fixtures that can be controlled from a single ActiveLED Motion / Occupancy IR Sensor is virtually limitless. Each interconnected LED fixture / power supply relays the sensor setting to the next connected fixture, thereby giving unlimited flexibility in managing the defined ActiveLED occupancy zone.

Adding a LightSpace Manager to the configuration offers additional management capabilites, allows the lighting to be configured to meet the occupancy needs and further reduces power consumption of the lighting fixtures within the occupancy zone.

Depending upon the dimensions of the defined space and the number of entry and exit points, one digital LightSpace Manager can be combined with up to 10 (ten) motion / occupancy sensors in defining the occupancy zone.

ActiveLED® Weatherproof Motion / Occupancy IR Sensor

There are two versions of the Weatherproof ActiveLED Motion / Occupancy IR Sensor, each has an effective range of 35 feet.
One version has a standard sensing cone that is 50° from the perpendicular (100° total cone) while the other has a wide sensing cone that is 65+° from the perpendicular (135° total cone).
The wide cone version is less sensitive in the area directly under the sensor but more sensitive on the 135° peripheral.

The attached lighting fixtures in the occupancy zone can be remotely reprogrammed, via the IR Motion Sensor, using the optional ActiveLED Hand-Held Remote Programmer (00-27-0101-0000) from a distance of up to 50 feet.

Installing the ActiveLED® Weatherproof Motion / Occupancy IR Sensor

Installation is a three-step process:

(1) Secure the housing of the Rugged Motion Sensor to a flat surface with two screws (screws not provided).
(2) Attach the outer cover assembly to the housing with two small screws (provided).
(3) Connect the Motion Sensor Assy to the nearest ActiveLED light fixture using an ActiveLED 6-conductor communications cable.

The ActiveLED system architecture is unique in its efficiency, design and the way the ActiveLED Elements are driven. This chart accurately details the substantial energy savings that can be achieved when deploying a manageable ActiveLED lighting network.

Combining this architecture with a LightSpace™ Appliance, including the LightSpace Manager-IR, provides additional energy savings that are somewhat exponential to the reduced light level.

Example One:
An ActiveLED High Bay Strip with 104 watts total fixture (96 watts of LEDs) with the brightness dimmed down to brightness level 50, then the total power consumption of that fixture is 16.64 watts (16% of 104 watts) at this brightness level of 50.

Example Two:
An ActiveLED High Bay Strip with 104 watts total fixture (96 watts of LEDs) with the brightness dimmed down to brightness level 30, then the total power consumption of that fixture is a mere 5.2 watts (5% of 104 watts) at this brightness level of 30.

This same chart and percentages not only apply to any of our lighting fixtures with the external dimming controls, including the Rotary Digital Dimmer and the LightSpace Manager, but also to any pre-programmed ActiveLED fixture.

Although the light output of ActiveLED fixtures can be dimmed in 2% increments, the chart on the left accurately portrays the percentage power consumption for each incremental brightness setting of 10.
