Compared to Lead-Acid batteries, Lithium-Iron batteries are ideally suited to Deep-Cycle applications and offer longer lifetimes, better power density (the rate that energy can be drawn from them) and are inherently safer than Li-Ion batteries.

Because of its non-toxicity, the natural abundance of iron, its excellent thermal stability, safety characteristics, electrochemical performance, and specific capacity, LiFePO4 batteries have a very constant discharge voltage. The voltage stays close to 3.2 V per cell during discharge and this allows the cell to deliver virtually full power until it has reached its safe discharge level.

Compared to traditional lead-acid batteries, ActiveLED's Lithium Iron Phosphate technology is ideally suited to deep-cycle applications such as Solar-power where the battery is gradually charged using solar power during the day and slowly discharged over the course of the night by powering devices such as lighting or other DC operated devices.
